International Music Competition
Competition
Maria Teresa Agnesi is an extraordinary figure in the 18th-century musical panorama, one of the first female composers to assert herself in an era in which musical creation was almost exclusively dominated by men. Her art has spanned the centuries, leaving a precious legacy that we want to celebrate today through our international competition.
Gifted with exceptional talent, Agnesi composed vocal and instrumental works that stood out for their elegance and expressive depth. Her style, refined and rich in baroque and pre-classical influences, anticipated many of the innovations that would characterize musical classicism. Her production, appreciated by her contemporaries, saw her as a protagonist in important cultural circles of the time, including the court of Milan and the most prestigious musical academies.
The importance of her figure lies not only in her compositions, but also in her ability to break down the barriers imposed on women in the music of the time. Through her work, Maria Teresa Agnesi paved the way for future generations, demonstrating that talent and creativity know no gender limits. Our competition aims to collect this legacy, offering a stage to musicians and composers who, like her, want to express their voice in the world of music.
Celebrating Maria Teresa Agnesi means valorizing a fundamental chapter in the history of music, but also promoting the continuous evolution of sound art. Through the sections dedicated to piano, composition, opera and vocal chamber music, the competition aims to create a bridge between the past and the future, between the richness of tradition and the innovative strength of the new generations. In this way, the name of Agnesi continues to live, inspiring and giving value to the music of today and tomorrow.
